World Book Day 2020

The week leading up to World Book Day 2020 and the week after, kept me busy with book readings. This is always a busy time for me, but I certainly do enjoy it. I spent the whole of World Book Day in a Sheffield primary school. It was great to see all the amazing outfits, with every child and member of staff participating. Unfortunately I am not allowed to share any photos due to confidentiality, but just take my word for it, they all looked fantastic. Because I was there all day, I had the time to read both stories to 3 year groups. They loved the stories and the characters, even the children that had already heard the stories. The older children asked a lot of questions and seemed really interested to hear how a picture book is made. The original plan was to read the 3rd story, but it was still in the process of being printed at the time.

During this 2 week period I also visited a local nursery. I got to read both stories, introduce them to the characters and even help with a craft activity afterwards. The children as usual were very well behaved and very interested in the stories and the characters. I have included a photo that I was allowed to share taken at this nursery. I would like to thank all the schools and nurseries that have invited me in to visit. World Book Day is always a very important date on the calendar and I’m so glad we got to celebrate it this year.

PRAISE FOR BILLY'S NEW CAMERA

"This is a fantastic book for small children, short enough to keep their interest throughout. The drawings are superb with plenty of visual stimulation. The rhyming story is repetitive enabling children to join in. On the whole, a humerous, colourful story all wrapped up in this little book for pre-school children who will love all the little animals."
