A visit to families at Foster Care Associates

Last week I was invited to read for foster carers and their youngsters. The FCA (Foster Care Associates) are based out near Catcliffe not far from the Sheffield Parkway. They frequently put on events and activities for the families and I was thrilled to be asked to visit them during the half term holiday.

It was only a small group, but it was fun and also wonderful getting to know the families and staff. I started by reading each story and introducing the children to the characters. We talked a little about the process of making a picture book and then finished by doing the craft activities linked with the books. The morning passed really quickly and the kids really loved working around the craft table, talking to family and friends and also showing off their creative ability.

The morning seemed to have a party like atmosphere to it, we all had great fun. What a super place for all these families to meet.

PRAISE FOR BILLY'S NEW CAMERA

"This is a fantastic book for small children, short enough to keep their interest throughout. The drawings are superb with plenty of visual stimulation. The rhyming story is repetitive enabling children to join in. On the whole, a humerous, colourful story all wrapped up in this little book for pre-school children who will love all the little animals."
